CASA/GAL of Miami County
Resource Details
CASA/GAL of Miami County is a 501 (c) 3; organization that works for the abused and neglected children of Miami County. CASA/GAL of Miami County is the voice for children who have been abused or neglected by empowering our community to volunteer as advocates for them in the court system. When the state steps in to protect a child’s safety, the court appoints a trained CASA volunteer to make independent and informed recommendations in the child’s best interest. After 35 hours of intensive training and courtroom observation, background checks and being sworn in by a judge, volunteers are appointed to a child or family of children and spend an average of 15-20 hours a month advocating for these children for the lifetime of a case. All of the CASAs are volunteers who represent and advocate for the best interests of the children in the courts in an effective, timely and professional manner until the case is permanently resolved.
