Armstrong County Children, Youth and Family Services is the public child welfare agency serving the residents of the County. The program is administered by County government and supervised by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services' Office of Children, Youth and Families.
The following services are offered to all clients regardless of race, color, religious creed, ancestry, national origin, age, sex or handicap:
Information and referral regarding the various social service programs available to meet families' needs
General protective services are offered to children at risk of minor or moderate neglect, school truant youth and youth who are ungovernable
Child protective services are provided to children who are suspected or confirmed victims of child abuse or serious physical neglect
Child placement services are offered to children who for one or more reasons cannot safely remain in their own homes. Placement options include foster family care, group homes in the community and residential treatment
In addition an array of other family support services is also offered including family preservation services, family group decision making, parent education and training in independent living skills for youth.
