The Comfort House provides support and advocacy to children who are alleged victims of abuse and neglect in Brooke and Hancock Counties.
SERVICES
Forensic Interviews – The Comfort House provides structured conversations with a child to elicit detailed information about a possible event(s) that the child may have experienced or witnessed. Our clean and comfortable, kid-friendly environment appeals to children of all ages. It is our goal to make the process as simplified and convenient as possible to accommodate work, school, and medical schedules. An interviewer is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year to police, prosecution, and Child Protection Services.
Community Education – Comfort House provides community prevention programs, specialized training, and small group presentations to inform the public about our mission, purpose, and services offered.
Advocacy Services – Our advocacy services include support for victims and their families, referrals for additional services, court advocacy and preparation, multi-disciplinary investigative team (DIT), and advocacy to hold offenders accountable for crimes.
