Federally Funded Captioned Telephones for Individuals with Hearing Loss (No Cost)
Resource Details
CapTel is a special phone service for people with hearing loss. It works like a regular telephone, but it also shows written captions of what the other person is saying during the call — similar to subtitles on TV. While you listen and speak normally, the conversation appears on a screen in real time. This makes it easier to follow along if you miss a word or need extra support understanding speech. CapTel phones are available at no cost to people with hearing loss, because the program is federally funded.
