There is now a law that protects your health benefits for mental health and substance use disorders. The attached document from SAMHSA offers an overview of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008. The US Dept. of Health and Human Services has also launched a Parity Website - This resource allows "stakeholders to submit comments on their experience with mental health and substance use disorder parity requirements; and provides research and materials that may be helpful in understanding and using behavioral health benefits that should be at parity with general healthcare."
