MBA Opens Doors Foundation
Resource Details
The mission of the MBA Opens Doors Foundation is to help vulnerable families with critically ill or injured children stay in their homes while a child is in treatment. Since 2012, the Foundation has helped more than 20,000 families from across the country through a network of 14 children’s hospitals in eight states plus the District of Columbia. The Foundation works directly with social workers at those hospitals who identify the families most in need of housing assistance and work closely with families to complete an online application. Families must work through their social workers to apply for a grant. The Foundation only accepts grant applications that are facilitated by a social worker at one of the Foundation’s network hospitals.
Grants of up to $2,000 are provided to families with a child 18 years old or younger in the hospital for a minimum of seven days or a child under the care of qualified home care medical personnel for at least 14 days. Roughly $300,000 in grants are made monthly upon review and approval by a Board Grant Review Committee.
New hospitals are added to the Foundation’s network on an ad hoc basis and as part of the Foundation’s overall strategic plan. Hospitals interested in being part of the network, can reach out to the Foundation at info@mbaopensdoors.org.
