Neighborhood Outreach Center
Resource Details
The Chippewa, Western and Russells Point Neighborhood Outreach Centers are an effort to establish family-centered neighborhood-based services in areas identified as having significant demographic, child protective and criminal justice concerns. The mission of the Neighborhood Outreach Centers (NOC) is to partner with residents of the area to help them identify and organize programs that promote safe children, stable families and a strong community. The Centers became a non-profit organization in April of 2010 under the name Logan County Neighborhood Outreach Inc.
The centers feature programming aimed at partnering with residents of each neighborhood in keeping children safe, strengthening families and encouraging positive community spirit. There have been many programs and activities at the Neighborhood Outreach Centers in 2012. Some of these programs include the homework help program, kids helping neighbors (leaf raking, snow shoveling, etc.), nutrition programs, mentor programs, job training, computer safety for children, outreach to the elderly population, and family activity nights. Other activities include monthly birthday parties, holiday events, parent appreciation dinners and family outings.
