Siblings With a Mission
Resource Details
Siblings with a Mission is an international organization where siblings of individuals with complex health conditions and developmental disabilities can receive support and exchange stories with other siblings. Siblings can express their concerns and insights as well as meet other siblings through online video conversations, web chat forums, story columns, and sibling workshops. With an emphasis on providing support and spreading awareness of special needs, these platforms enable an exchange of perspectives that can not only guide siblings through occasionally difficult times at home, but will also change the public's opinion on special needs and what it's like to have a sibling who is "different."
Siblings with a Mission strives to inspire siblings to teach communities that people with disabilities can have fun and enjoy life, too. We wish to inspire siblings to offer support to others and participate in sibling workshops. But most of all, we strive to encourage members to have fun and make the best of every moment with their sibling.
Siblings with a Mission is comprised of subgroups that focus on a specific diagnosis or disability. These groups focus on diagnoses including: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Cerebral Palsy, Bipolar Disorder, and Sibling Grief Support. If you have a sibling that has a diagnosis not covered in the current Support Groups, we can create a group that meets your experiences.
