TechOWL

TechOWL – Technology for Our Whole Lives is a part of the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University.

Did you know that every state has a program to help people with disabilities and others explore, find and get the tools and technology they need? These tools may be needed for school, work, and life in the community. The Institute on Disabilities at Temple University is the home for this program in Pennsylvania. It is called Pennsylvania’s Initiative on Assistive Technology or “PIAT” (pee-aht) for short. We also partner with other groups to create regional centers across Pennsylvania. There is probably a regional resource center close to you.

This program is funded by your tax dollars. In many cases, our services are available at no additional cost to you. You already paid for these services when you paid your taxes. The federal government provides some of the money and the state government provides some of the money. We also get money from other grants. If there is no other funding source, we can bill you directly with your agreement.

The Institute on Disabilities at Temple University is home to many assistive technology programs and projects including Pennsylvania’s Initiative on Assistive Technology (PIAT). PIAT is Pennsylvania’s Assistive Technology (AT) Act Program. PIAT and the other assistive technology programs and projects create TechOWL – Technology for Our Whole Lives.
