Our Mission:
The Piggyback Foundation helps families maintain a sense of normalcy during times of life threatening illness by providing assistance to meet the emotional and educational needs of the children.
The People We Serve:
The people for whom we provide services are families that live in the greater Norwalk area and surrounding communities who have an immediate family member with a life threatening illness and need help to maintain normalcy for the children
Our Purpose:
The purpose of The Piggyback Foundation is to help carry families through times of need. We provide assistance to the challenges children and those who love and care for them face when confronted with a life threatening illness. In partnership with the people we serve, our volunteers and our board members are committed to following God's guidance in our mission.
Our Programs:
Family Counts: It is important to provide families the opportunity to attend activities that help strengthen the family unit, provide stress relief and make memorable moments. The Piggyback Foundation provides funding to families, at a time when finances are limited to make memorable moments happen.
Education Counts: The emotional stress and isolation felt by children, when attention has been directed to the ill family member, may cause them to fall behind in school. It is important to work with the parents, the school, and the teacher to meet the child's academic needs.
Activities Count: The Piggyback Foundation works with the family to maintain the children's extracurricular activities. In times of financial uncertainty, many families have to set priorities. The difficult decision to discontinue extracurricular activities can be devastating to a child's emotional, physical, and social well-being. It is important that the children are able to continue to be involved in these enjoyable activities that help reduce stress.
Faith Counts: If desired, we will support the family in prayer and faith development. The foundation believes that through God all things are possible
Additional Services: Emergency Fund: Meeting the needs of emergency situations helps children and families feel more secure in their environment. The Piggyback Foundation works with the family to reduce financial stress by means of gas cards, grocery cards and other immediate needs.
Sunshine Fund: Would you like to help? If you hear of a family in need, that may qualify for PBF, call and make a goodwill request to let the family know that our community cares.
Piggyback Partners: Local businesses and organizations join with PBF to provide services for our families at a special rate.
