The Salvation Army Learning Zones

The Learning Zone brings children into an environment where the learning continues long after the bell rings. The Salvation Army Northeast Ohio Division operates 15+ after-school programs to give kids a safe place to play, do homework and pursue extracurricular goals. During a time where they could otherwise be at risk, we open our doors to kids for growth in literacy, sports, arts and music skills. The Learning Zone programs include a preschool program and after school program. The Learning Zones provide meaningful opportunities for learning. Not only do students receive help with their homework, it is checked before going home. Students are able to work on school projects at the center. They also receive tutoring in areas such as reading and math after receiving an assessment upon enrollment. The Salvation Army Learning Zones also provide a number of enrichment programs through team-building, art, physical activities, and science to enhance their capabilities and self-esteem, with the goal of teaching them to make positive choices in all aspects of their lives. Service offerings include preschool, after school, and summer day camp and vary depending on location.
