West Virginia Home Visitation Program (WVHVP)
Resource Details
West Virginia Home Visitation Program(WVHVP), within the Office of Maternal, Child and Family Health, involves partnerships at federal, state and community levels to assist families in meeting their parenting goals. Programs are available at no cost to families across the state. Programs are delivered by local home visitors who have received extensive training in evidence-based curriculums.
The family makes the choice to enroll and invite home visitors into their home. All programs can be initiated during pregnancy and continue to age three to five. Using a family-centered, asset-building approach, families determine what issues they want to address. The intent of the program is to partner with families so children grow up healthy, strong and ready to learn. Typical discussions include:
Healthy Pregnancy
Infant Sleeping
Crying
Breastfeeding
Discipline Strategies
Child Development
Parenting Support
Community Referrals
