YMCA Community Strengthening was founded/established more than 35 years ago as a coalition of thirty agencies/organizations and parent representatives who were involved in providing services for families with children who had special health care needs and/or developmental disabilities and delays.

Community Strengthening Programs:

1. Y CARES: Support for individuals and families with infants or pregnant individuals, focusing on reducing infant mortality through wraparound services.

2. Early Intervention: Federally mandated services for children (birth to age 3) with medical fragility, developmental delays, or disabilities, providing evaluations and coordinating therapeutic services.

3. Community Support Site: Speech therapy services for children in the Early Intervention program with diagnosed speech delays or disabilities, offered in community settings.

4. SPARK: A home-based school readiness program assisting families in preparing children for kindergarten by developing reading, language, and social skills through structured activities.

5. Preschool Age Services: Screening services for economically disadvantaged preschool-age children to address developmental, hearing, vision, and social-emotional needs.

6. Stable Families: A two-generation approach program aiding families with school-aged children in achieving stability and self-sufficiency through income increase, academic support, and housing stability.

7. Juvenile Justice: Programs targeting middle and high school youth, including PALS for suspended students and a Day Curfew program for truant youth, providing educational and counseling support.

8. Y Without Walls: Serving families in Central Ohio with various programs including community strengthening, STEM engagement for youth, and accessible support and resources.

9. Family Support: Services for individuals with developmental delays, disabilities, and special health care needs, including community-based activities and informational sessions.

10. New American Welcome Centers: Integration services for immigrants and initiatives to foster cross-cultural understanding and inclusivity in receiving communities.

11. Kailey's Closet - Equipment Loan Program: Loaning adaptive equipment to individuals of all ages for 90-day periods, along with other resources and support for families.

12. Training: Providing training and coaching to community providers and families on various topics including trauma-informed care, mental health, child development, and diverse-abilities/inclusion.
